Spud growing in schools a success
It's clear that introducing children to the growing process for fruit and vegetables makes them much more likely to try new tastes and ultimately increase their fresh produce intake. Understanding where the items children see on the retail shelves actually grow and what they need to help them grow is a great way to increase awareness.
This year The Potato Council has been running a Grow Your Own project in schools, reaching nearly half a million children. They have also introduced a network of Potato Ambassadors who, amongst their other duties, have been getting involved and enthusing teachers and children in the classroom.
