Steamed Purple Broccoli with Goat's Cheese

The amazingly vibrant colour of raw purple sprouting broccoli is slightly reduced on cooking, but topped with a contrasting creamy white goats cheese this always looks great and can either be served as an accompaniment or even as a simple, light supper dish.


400g purple sprouting broccoli florets
75g goat’s cheese
2 tsp extra virgin olive oil (8g)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper


1: Steam the broccoli in a steamer or in a colander over a pan of boiling water for 5 minutes or until just tender.

2: Transfer to a heatproof serving dish, crumble over the cheese and drizzle over the oil. Season to taste.

3: Place under a preheated grill for 2-3 minutes until lightly browned.
